Infused ICT in the classroom

Wow! how exciting. Mahi Kainga (homework) has now been on the wiki for two terms. This week I decided there was going to be no more paper, or copying from the board. Mahi Kainga can be accessed and completed via the internet. Those who do not have access have been told they can use it in the classroom. Already there have been four responses to tamariki beginning to complete their homework online and completing the tasks. Most of the mahi kainga was accessing their blog and the wiki. this is so exciting. I must get the tamariki's voice on how they feel about doing it this way... Yah!!!

There is always so much to learn. I am going to put a survey out to the staff and going to call it Dreams and Reality. As we need to put a infrastructure in place. This kind of learning is easy to embrace. I look forward to the day when all the kids can be using laptops on a more regular basis within the classroom environment. I have appreciated heaps the help of L for her patience and her faith in me to deliver. I find it all very exciting.

I wish

I think the government really needs to take the time to see what is happening in the classroom. I think my kids are learning ways, processes on how to problem solve, time will tell. They enjoy sharing their learning and are always keen to put their voice to learning. I still need to take more time with them and sharing what i know so that they become independant learners. I really enjoy teaching at the moment and I am grateful that I have been given opportunities to share my learning with others. There are a lot of teachers out there who really need to take stock of their learning in the classroom, and gear it to the learning of the tamariki. The money is good, more is better, but having fun with kids is very rewarding. We used skype today, to talk to my sister Julie who lives in america. The kids sang waiata for my sister and the family. My sister was very impressed, the kids enjoyed the skyping, all apart of e learning.

BEST

I thoroughly enjoyed my day today at the BEST/RELLCo conference. I enjoyed sharing my learning with others about the many Wiki experiences, learning and inquiry. I was excited that a couple of attendees received a "aha" moment. I also enjoyed Tony Ryan. He had some good ideas and shared experiences off others. I am going to use a few of his ideas. One was the fact the some students constantly ask the same question, so he talked about a Thinking Toy for the students, and how they need to learn to think things through, so I will put that into play. I totally enjoyed SOLO Taxonomy, and this is definitely something that works along side inquiry. Awesome weekend. Then of course my daughters and nephew made a decision the night before to run for fun in the 5km race alongside the Lions Marathon. So I took them all out to dinner..... I had a great weekend for learning.
